  • Fee is due September 13 unless alternate payment arrangements have been made in writing with Martin Leren, Treasurer, otherwise a $25.00 late fee will apply.
  • Please pay early and register by the deadline to ensure adequate availability of equipment and appropriate coach to rower ratio.  If paying by check, mail to our PO Box address.

Do I need to file any waiver forms?
  • ALL Rowers should return forms: Medical Waiver form and US Rowing Waiver 2010-11 form by: 1)  emailing the scanned forms to the Registrar or, 2) mail them to “Registrar” at our Contact address on this page.  No one is allowed on the river without both waivers completed and filed with the registrar.

Are there any other required things to do?
  • All rowers and a parent or guardian must attend the mandatory Parent-Rower Meeting on Tuesday, September 14 at 7:00 PM at one of the dining halls in Shaker High School.
  • Rowers will be in Safety training while Parents are briefed on the program.
  • Shaker Crew relies on parental involvement and support to keep Shaker Crew alive.  It is mandatory for a family representative to volunteer.  See the Volunteer page for more information on this.  When registering you will be asked to commit to volunteer in some capacity.

What do I wear?  Do I need to buy a uniform?  When do I order crew clothing?
  • Athletes are expected to wear or bring proper training clothes, including sneakers.
  • Have clothing suitable for outdoor conditions each day.
  • Novice rowers are required to purchase a club T-shirt; Varsity rowers are required to purchase a club unisuit. It is recommended if you are a 2nd season novice and know you will be rowing in future seasons that you purchase your unisuit.

What do I need to know about the program and practice?
  • Bring a reusable water bottle – we are continuing to GO GREEN – no single use water bottles at the Riverfront.
  • Also, be sure to pack a change of clothes in case you get wet.
  • Practices last about two hours.  All rowers are expected to help get launches back in to the boathouse.  No one should leave practice until your equipment is secured.
  • If you must leave or cannot attend practice, please be sure to let coach know or write your whereabouts on the “white board.”  Although there are no tryouts, it is important that you be committed to attending every practice unless you have a legitimate excuse.  It will be important that you plan ahead and communicate when you need to stay after school especially when you need to miss practice.
  • Practice attendance every day (Monday – Friday) will be a consideration for boat placement in regattas.  Varsity rowers are expected to attend practice on Saturday unless out of town.
